Your Own Photo Tour
Would you like have your own photo tour? That's entirely possible. Just send me the photos you want to see, and I'll show you how to create and edit your own tour. It should be a geek's tour, though.

Dirk Riehle

Well, PARC had it all: The first Ethernet, the first graphical workstation, the first laser printer... What a story to have squandered it all.

Photos: Parc Entrance, Parc Street Sign, Parc Pake Auditorium

PARC used to be Xerox Parc, the research lab of Xerox Corporation, which had been deliberately located far away from its headquarters. The consequence is the well-known story that all its innovations where commercialized by other companies, most notably by Apple and later Microsoft.

Recently, PARC was spun out of Xerox, and is now receiving declining financial support. The goal is to make PARC self-sustaining, that is to make it live off its own income. That seems like a long shot to me, but only time can tell.
